The English Democrats support the democratic right of the Scottish Parliament to hold a referendum on Scottish Independence. The timing of this ballot, and the questions to be asked, are matters for the people of Scotland. If, however, there is a 'Yes' vote, then only properly constituted National Governments, and Parliaments, of the former UK's constituent nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will have the democratic and national legitimacy to negotiate any new constitutional arrangements, after such an historic decision to break up the UK. Therefore, in preparation for this momentous Scottish vote, the English Democrats now formally call upon the United Kingdom's Government to hold a referendum in England, within the same timescale of that in Scotland. This referendum should ask the people of England whether they either:- a) Want to have their own Parliament and Government with the same powers as exist in Scotland currently or would do so if a form of devolution 'max' were established there; or b) Wish to remain part of a political Union with the people of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In the event of a break up of the UK, the English Democrats insist on the right of the Sovereign People of England to be consulted onany treaties, through a referendum, on whether, or not, we are prepared to accept them. If not, then they will have to be renegotiated. Robin Tilbrook, the Chairman of the English Democrats said:- "We demand the same rights for the Sovereign People of England as for the Peoples of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Only with an English Parliament and Government can the interests of the People of England be protected in any future negotiations regarding either the break-up of the United Kingdom or the creation of any new constitutional arrangements within the British Isles."

mr  I agree. If scotland wants independance, that is fine. If not, England must have the same rights and the same government expenditure per head as the scotts currently benefit from. We must stop the subsidising of a country that does not want to be part of the UK.

I would truly wish to see ENGLAND return to Independant Rule, with no involvement with the Rule of Scottish Afffairs, no members of Scotland involved in running our Parliament, Stricter Controls over Immigration, Return any Immigrants to Country of origin if they they break English Laws or Commit Serious Crime.

English not British!
I believe in the Free Will of any Nation, be it Gibraltar, who want to stay British and not Spain, The Falkland Islands, Britain not Argentina ( a true and just war ). India/Pakistan got their Independence many years ago, why are we still paying them many millions of pounds each year in aid?
If the Scottish people want seperation from England, Wales too, then it is for the people of these countries to decide. HM Queen Elizabeth 11 should remain as Head of State, why have a President. Full Parlimentary privilages to make Laws for their country, Taxation etc, therefore the English will not have to pay Taxes to support them, another country.

The UKs sovereignty was practically given to Europe by Ted Heath and since then we have had "fake" Prime Ministers running the country. Before we can have an independant people with an independant government thats not run by the corporations through lobbyists there needs to be a complete change of attitude in Parliament and a new British Constitution based on the old values and a government that is going to stop robbing the nations wealth through stealth taxes, petty fines and "totally made up money grabbing laws" and a return to the country of production that we allowed to slip away to Asia.

I am in full agreement with the Scottish people having a referendum on their total independance from the UK. If Wales and Northern Ireland wish to do the same they also should be allowed. As for England, we will need to re negotiate all of our current treaties with the rest of the UK if they decide to Go It Alone. For instance, would this mean passports as is now the case with Eire? There are a lot of questions to be answered and I feel we need to be in the full picture to decide what we want as the sovereign people of England.

English and Proud
At the last general election I became quite aware of the whole English Parliament issue and found out through talking to friends how ignorant most 'English' born people are to a) our heritage b)what the difference between united kingdom and Britain is c)what they can do about it. It drove me to write a short scene/story on this which I think would make a great campaign video or short advertising skit, bringing up these very issues. What a mess!
Robin Tillbrook is correct in everthing he says above, exactly what one would expect from a democratic politician.
Unfortunately our opposition in this matter are the unionist parties that occupy the Palace of Westminster at present. From the Act of Devolution to using Scottish Votes to secure tuition fees for English and Welsh students to imposing PFI hospitals on England using the same foriegn votes and more recently the rejection by all three unionist parties of the European Referundum that the majority of voters have been crying out for the unionist parties have nailed their anti democratic colours firmly to the mast. Despite the fact they have no counter whatsoever to Robins excellently phrased points they will continue to prop up their self serving system until they are taught a lesson or two at the ballot box. The only party with the democratic policies to challenge their cosy little club are the English Democrats. We must all get behind Robin and the party and get that message out. England is waking up but our citizens need to know there is a better way.

There is a precedent.Most of Ireland ceceded from the UK in 1921.
They conduct their own affairs in their own country, yet come and go in the UK as they please. If Scotland ceceded I would imagine the only issue would be negotiation of military assets which as it happens have a major relevance on the local economy.The British Military has a long history of bases in foreign countries.It would not be a problem.The North Sea oilfields are a red herring.The oil is low quality and running out.Why do you think we still import so much from Africa/Arabia and are desperate to defend the potential in the South Atlantic?

Enough is enough Come on English people Wake Up! What is a matter with you is it don’t care or despair? England and Palistine are the only Countries in the world that are not recognised or don’t exist. How can that be? The western world is more un-united now than it has ever been, with so many people in positions of power lacking integrity and only thinking of No 1 it’s a bit difficult to make any meaningful progress. Apartheid; Many people all over the world believe very strongly that APARTHEID IS WRONG! Why then are the Proud ENGLISH of this country people not treated the same as the rest of the world.

The Scots Get Everything
i have had enough from the scots as they get free Prescriptions for all,free school meals for all,free eye tests for all,free hospital parking for all and guess what.
if you are scottish,welsh,irish,german,french or any other nationality in the eu/eea you get free higher education in scotland but if your english you must pay and the french and germans get it free up there. and the trains in scotland have no overcrowding and the council tax has been frozen for 10 years. its true that the scottish goverment do great for the people of scotland. why cant england have a goverment that look after us. you can not buy a council house in scotland so this makes it easier to get a council house. their public transport is fantastic and cheap in scotland. the scottish get everything and us english live in poverty. Please Alex Salmond be the Prime Minister of England.
