Statement on Scottish Independence
Written by Administrator

Over the last few days the daily papers have been full of stories, debate and discussion on the issue of Scottish independence. The English Democrats have released the following statement on this issue:

"The English Democrats are not against the Union but nevertheless support the SNP in their democratic right to hold a referendum on how the Scottish People wish to be governed.

Should the Scottish People vote for an end to the Act of Union there will have to be a set of treaties agreed with the sovereign Scottish People before such a breakup takes place.

The English Democrats insist on the right of the People of England to be consulted on these treaties through an English referendum on whether or not our People are prepared to accept them.

If the People of England vote against such treaties then the negotiations will have to resume until such time as the sovereign People of England find the proposed treaties acceptable."

Wishful thinking I fear. I doubt whether any English members of the Westminster parliament really care enough about their English consitituents to face up to the Lion in the North. I have a suspicion that the independence of Scotland will be the moment that England is carved up into regions as per the EU and globalists' agenda. You will probably find that Alex Salmond is being backed by them. As for Mr Cameron I also wonder whether, whilst claiming to support the Union, he is trying to so enrage the Scots that they will opt for independence and then he can go ahead with his masters'wishes the complete dismantling of the United Kingdom and its piecemeal absorbtion into the totalitarian EU superstate. They don't want homogeneous communities, communal cohesion or nation states but biddable individuals. Scotland and Wales will be insignificant as nations in international terms and England will have been dissected like a corpse. I am not against Scottish and Welsh independence but the dissection of England will mean the end of British power and influence in the world.

From what or whom is Scotland asking independence? Not the English surely, for the English never did march North and conquer Scotland. Edward 1st was a Francephone descendent of s Norman usurper. It would be less complicated if true history had been taught at school. Ordinary English folk were never consulted over the Act of Union; it is out of date and, in modern terms, illegal. I am seriously considering the idea of an England free from the tyranny of blame, an England where you are never challenged over your identity - as I have been.
As for Mr Salmond, I am not sure he is the best thing for most Scottish people, but the choice is, I think, theirs.

Having just listened to the Prime Ministers remarks during PMQ's, I had the sinking feeling that the last thing on his mind was the wishes of the English peoples. His remarks all stressed what the British Govt's response to the subject was.

Seeing as (rough figures), that the Scottish population is only 10% of that of the English population, it is obvious that any financial burden will fall mainly on the English peoples. Seeing this is the case, any debate leading to treaties without an English voice being heard should at the least be treated with suspicion.

Allowing the debate to proceed without a clear indication that the English peoples are not willing to just give up and walk away from the benefits of North Sea Oil only serves to emphasise their paucity of thinking. Norway has discovered very large additional resources in their oil fields, the type of finds indicate the strong possibility of like reserves existing in British waters. In any event, but especially in today's financial climate should the English be expected to sit still and let such a huge financial resource be snatched away from them, selling out future English generations.

During recent weeks, the topic of racism has raised its ugly head. The other side of the coin being seen in the now famous remarks by Diane Abbott. These in conjunction with remarks by Jo Brand on Radio 5 live indicating that it was not possible to be racist to white people, indicate just how far we have fallen.

The treatment of the English people, in being given no national voice, no say in the financial settlement between Britain and Scotland is I suggest, laying the foundations for the greatest Racist Crime ever perpetrated in this country against the English, whilst the English slumber on, hoodwinked by a British ruling elite determined to continue their privileges and power, at our expense.

If we sit still for this, we will be aiding and abetting in the subjugation of the majority, by the minority under a governmental system that almost amounts to apartheid. We will deserve everything we get. It is time to wake up, to reclaim the heritage that is being purposefully whittled away, step by step. The alternative is to lay rotting in our beds, complicit in our own destruction.

Interesting comment Betty Norton. Anglo-Saxon thanes sought refuge in Scotland after the Norman Conquest. I think others fled to the Continent - Hungary comes to mind. This is one reason why Scottish English is purer in some respects than Standard English which was influenced more by Norman French. And yes the Norman Establishment and Scottish Merchants were behind the Act of Union ( vehemently opposed by the ordinary people in Scotland ). It is time to demand an end to English guilt and also counter the Marxist brainwashing of our young people that the Empire was all bad ( quite a few Celts involved in that especially Scottish slave owners in the West Indies ). It is time to assert that the British establishment is the continuation of Norman rule of the English. This is I believe why the British establishment are so afraid of the "violent" English. The Anglo-Saxons never went away they were subjugated into a one thousand year state of narcolepsy.
If things continue we will sink further and further to the bottom of the heap as those who have colonised this country from overseas since 1066 gain more and more prominence. Eventually, of course, the religious and racial groupings will start to fight amongst themselves when they do not have us to kick against. The Scots have no right to blame the English for Edward 1st. Let the Scots go so we can finally shrug of the imperial guilt complex ( Scotland was England's first colony!!) and re-assert our own identity and independence. I recently pointed out to a Scottish friend that I hoped that Alex Salmond would give the English their independence. But even if Scotland goes don't be fooled into thinking that the Norman establishment will give the English a parliament. They will do nothing for the English because they are terrified of them. On another point the people of Berwick-on-Tweed are saying that if Scotland gains independence they will be better off in Scotland. Not if the Barnett formula goes down the Swanee and the English refuse to give them any more dosh.

Scottish independance and other things.

The cowardly Westminster government will probably acquiesce to Scottish independence and it will be the crowning symbol of maladministration and economic mismanagement that has been the UK’s way of doing things since the end of word war two.
If Scotland becomes independent it is virtually certain that a semi-independent Sharia republic of Tower Hamlets will follow soon afterwards.
Just wait and see.

In the House of Commons last week we had the unedifying spectacle of Cameron grovelling to Scottish interests by saying how much he wished them success in their devolved identity, only disagreeing in that he wants the independence referendum sooner rather than later, but he would help them, nevertheless. Cameron wants to preserve the Union somehow, but even if an independence vote fails, the demand for independence will continue.
It was a grossly embarrassing. Clearly he did not care how shameful it was for the English, since he denies us the same opportunity for democracy, and is opposed to England having her own parliament. He is The Great Hypocrite.
And then what happened, later that bloated Scot with his bottomless begging bowl upon which he relies for his and Scotland's survival, speaking for himself and all his supporters accused the English of interfering in Scottish affairs! He and all of them thus spat in our faces.
We should not take this nonsense. Let the Scots run their own affairs, it's what we want for ourselves after all, but let there be an end to the Union too; it will resolve the never ending demands for independence or more and more devolution, and is possibly the only way to end the scandal of unlimited sums of English money being exported to Scotland, never to be seen again. Scotland will always be a millstone around the English neck until we achieve a complete break.
England's first enemy is not the Scots, but the present political, intellectual and media Establishments. We must make our presence felt and raise the profile of our cause and build on the growing momentum of the demand for an English parliament, which is now supported by more than 50% and possibly 60% of the population.
I share the frustration of those contributors on these and other pages who wish to see action. Whilst It is mostly words and the truth and fairness of our arguments which have got us this far, there is a place for action on the streets to supplement it. This can be seen from the success of the 'Occupy' movements which we have seen over the last year or so. That was born of the frustration of millions of people. But this is not the cry of the political Left, but of the disenfranchised.
We must now take this step. Let us call upon the leadership of the various groups and parties which share the common aim, to set up a form of joint protest committee to plan and then call upon the collective membership to take part in demonstrations and marches in support of the cause.

Time to lay the ghosts of history.

I believe that commentators such as Anonymous should take the time to understand what we English Democrats are really about.
Let me start by stating that history is past, it cannot be re-written. It is done and most importantly; in the past. We are the descendants of that history and we have to go about our present task accepting the challenges that history has bequeathed us. Dwelling on the past is a path to ruin and if others wish to follow that path then that is their choice and their mistake.
I choose not to make that mistake.
The English Democrats were created to represent all the citizens of England no matter what their roots are. The actions of the Unionist parties have given a democratic deficit to all the citizens of England regardless of colour, race or creed. The Unionists chose not to discriminate in foisting democratic deficit on the citizens of England and the English Democrats are fighting for the rights of all English Citizens regardless of colour, race or creed. Past history has no part in that fight. Our challenge is to influence in a positive way the writing of history that is to come.
The fight is now!

I find some of the anti Scottish rhetoric puzzling as you don’t have to be anti Scottish to be pro English any more that we Scots need not be anti English to be pro Scottish.

I am a proud Scot who will vote yes in the referendum but I will still holiday in England and will still have nothing but respect for the English nation.

Scottish independence opens the door to a more equal relationship between our nations/

Cattle rustlers then. Cattle rustlers now.

Why should only the Scots get to vote on the Uks future? Its a case of the tail wagging the dog again. The Scots were cattle rustlers and brigands and "devo-max" looks to me like the 21st centuary equivalent.
Im sick of hearing them whinge and whine about how the big bad English " set about poor wee plucky Scotland".
Can't wait to see the back of them but it should'nt be something that happens on their terms only. Let them look back to a Utopia that never was and forward to a Shangri-la that never will be! They will always be dependent on England and English resources and goodwill, which frankly, due to their arrogant attitude I find in short supply in myself and in others,

Patriot, even the UK government's own figures show Scotland more than pays ist way. If we were really such a burden on the UK government then surely Scottish independence would benefit England?

As for your question on why only the Scots can vote, that is because it is the Scottish Government who are holding the referendum and the Scottish Government have no role in English politics, unlike the UK Government in Scotland.
