Overcrowded England

We English are already living in one of the most densely populated nations on Earth and yet, as this article shows, perhaps not surprisingly, there is a total failure of will by the Tories to grip this important issue.

On the 25th of August the Daily Telegraph ran an article and an editorial exposing the full scale of immigration into the UK and just how the Tories, despite their pledges, are doing nothing to curb the numbers crossing our borders.

The article in the Telegraph begins by saying:

"Residents born overseas account for one in eight people after hitting 7,040,000 last year, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Some 239,000 more people moved here during 2010 than left, the fourth highest level on record, and a record one in four births were to foreign-born mothers.

It is a major blow to David Cameron's pledge to cut net immigration to the "tens of thousands" by 2015."

But the story doesn't end there. The Daily Telegraph goes onto expose the numbers of new immigrants granted settlement in 2010. This obviously doesn't account for those entering the country illegally. More worrying still is the fact that last year the number of illegal immigrants being deported fell to a 10 year low despite the number of claims for asylum rising by 9%.

"Other figures yesterday showed that a record 241,000 people were granted settlement in 2010, while the number of illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers removed from the country hit a 10-year low with just 11,388 leaving between April and June this year."

Worryingly, the government does not have control over many of the new immigrants entering our country. A significant proportion of the immigration is now from Eastern Europe and other EU countries – something which is perfectly legal under EU rules!

"The net flow of Eastern European migrants increased almost eight-fold while asylum claims increased by nine per cent to 4,800 compared with the same quarter last year.

Net immigration, the difference between those arriving and those leaving, stood at 239,000 last year, a 21 per cent increase on the previous year and the sixth consecutive comparative rise in the ONS's quarterly bulletins."

The effect of this mass immigration is also manifesting itself in the number of babies being born by immigrant mothers. The Telegraph goes onto say:

"For the first time in 2010, more than a quarter of babies born during the year were born to foreign mothers. The ONS suggested that foreign-born mothers – especially Polish migrants – had fuelled an overall rise in the birth rate for England and Wales because they made up a growing proportion of the childbearing-age population."

This is a worrying trend which further adds to the problems of over-population which are having a profound effect on the well being and quality of life of local people all over England. The Telegraph points out just one example of this:

"Council leaders and head teachers have warned that rising birth rates have contributed to an unprecedented surge in demand for places in primary schools."

The effects of this uncontrolled immigration and high birth levels of immigrants are much further reaching than just reaching than just putting pressure on our education system. The Conservative government are making difficult cuts, yet at the same time immigration is putting an increased strain on housing and local and national services.

The full article can be read here:

The Daily Telegraph also ran a stinging editorial which criticsed David Cameron for his failure to deal with the problem:

"David Cameron's pre-election promise to reduce net immigration to the "tens of thousands" was always a hostage to fortune. In choosing to highlight the net figure, he risked seeing his ambitions thwarted by a phenomenon beyond the Government's control, namely emigration. The bald figures published by the Office for National Statistics yesterday showed a 20 per cent rise in net immigration last year to 239,000 – just short of the record set under Labour. But, in fact, the number of people coming to this country to settle hardly changed; it was the sharp fall in emigration that caused the net figure to rise.

However, it is gross immigration that matters. Last year, this stood at 575,000 and it has been running at more than half a million since 2004. Some are British people returning home but four fifths are non-UK nationals. At the same time, the number of foreign nationals going back to their homelands in 2010 declined to around 185,000; so the annual addition to the country's foreign-born population is about 250,000 – by far the largest influx of overseas citizens in our history. Moreover, nearly 200,000 non-EU immigrants obtained British citizenship last year and the number granted settlement – a precursor to a full passport - grew to a record 241,000. Many of these are families rather than students or unattached workers: one child in four is now born to a mother from outside the UK.

As recently as 15 years ago, Whitehall planners worked on the long-term assumption that net immigration would run at about 50,000 a year, as it did until 1997. Indeed, the latest figures are the legacy of Labour's abject failure to control our borders or exercise the option to restrict eastern European immigration. They also show that Mr Cameron's hopes of fulfilling his pledge by 2015 are forlorn."

The English Democrats have a clear and sensible policy on immigration. We acknowledge the effect immigration has on housing, over-population and local services. Our policy is clear – an end to mass immigration. We also pledge to expel those living here illegally. We would overhaul the whole immigration system and change it to a points system based on the Canadian and Australian model.

You can read the relevant section of our manifesto below:

2.8 Housing

2.8.1 Housing supply and pricing is being severely distorted by the levels of immigration into England. First time buyers find it difficult to afford a home of their own and need to take on large mortgages and the attendant interest payments, in order to do so. Social housing is currently insufficient to meet demand.

2.8.2 With our pledge to bring mass immigration to a complete end and to expel illegal immigrants, then the pressure on housing will be lessened.

2.8.3 The English Democrats advocate a fairer points system for the allocation of social housing, giving greater priority to local people and those who are married and in work. Publicly funded affordable housing purchase/rental schemes should only be available to first time buyers who are citizens of this country.

3.15 Immigration

3.15.1 We need to change immigration policy so that it better reflects the needs and wishes of the people of England.

3.15.2 There should be a points system for entry to the UK which is based on the Canadian and Australian model. Points should be awarded for, among other things: educational and professional qualification; family links with England; financial resources; the ability to speak English. In other words, entry should be determined by our needs as a society and the ability of newcomers to be absorbed into the prevailing public culture. High priority should be given to creating a peaceful society which is bound together by shared values and perceptions.

3.15.3 The wishes, security and interests of the people of England should be the dominant factors in determining asylum and immigration policies for England.

3.15.4 Should there be an economic need for immigration it should be met by the employment of people on fixed term work permits.

3.15.5 Our aim should be to meet the need for skilled workers from within. A points system should be used to bring an end to mass immigration and only allow that immigration which is in the national interest. A points system should not be used to facilitate and legitimise a continuation of mass immigration.

3.15.6 Immigrants should not be a burden on the taxpayer and should be economically self-sustaining. This requires that the wages paid to immigrants should be at a level necessary for those immigrants to pay sufficient tax revenues to meet expected welfare and other public sector costs – or else that their employers make payment for the shortfall. Furthermore, immigrants and/or their employers should make payment a capital sum to reflect a full contribution to the existing capital wealth of the nation, such as schools, hospitals, roads, housing etc. Those potential immigrants who are unable or unwilling to make these payments will not be allowed into the country.

3.15.7 International law is not fixed for all time. We should not feel bound by rules that were devised several decades ago when circumstances were very different. Asylum seekers should seek asylum in a state adjoining or nearby the state from which they are fleeing. None of the UK's immediate neighbours are terrorising regimes. The UK should refuse to accept any further asylum seekers and should instead give financial assistance to genuine refugees in their own or neighbouring countries, where such financial assistance will have the greatest beneficial impact.

3.15.8 In order to end the mass inflow of asylum seekers into the UK, the UK must withdraw from the 1951 UN Convention on Refugees.

3.15.9 Our principal concern is to preserve and build on what is left of English cultural unity and social cohesion. The preservation of our identity and culture are at least as important as economic considerations.

3.15.10 The English Democrats do not accept the fallacious but widely publicised economic arguments for mass immigration. For the most part they greatly exaggerate the economic benefits and wholly ignore the economic, social, and cultural costs. The people of England have never voted for nor supported mass immigration.

3.15.11 The English Democrats support whatever measures are necessary to bring mass immigration to a complete end. Such measures should include:

3.15.11.1 Thorough border controls with all inward and outward movements through ports being logged to provide the best quality information on migration movements.

3.15.11.2 Stronger visa requirements for countries with a reputation for illegal movements.

3.15.11.3 The deportation of all illegal immigrants. There should be no amnesties. Illegality should not be rewarded by the granting of citizenship. Nor should organised crime rackets be allowed to profit from people smuggling. Discovered illegal immigrants should be offered the choice between cooperatively returning straight home, or being sent to a distant offshore holding centre during the processing of their repatriation case.

3.15.11.4 The repeal of the Human Rights Act and the withdrawal of the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights. Both of these flawed items of legislation have perversely assisted criminals while offering little of substance to the law-abiding population.

3.15.11.5 Punitive fining and possible withdrawal of trading rights of companies, company directors and other employers who employ illegal immigrants.

3.15.11.6 The deportation of all those immigrants who have been convicted of a criminal offence or who are advocates of, or active supporters of, extremist behaviour of a violent, separatist or destabilising nature.

3.15.11.7 The strengthening of the customs and immigration services and the vigorous enforcement of the law. The English Democrats recognise that successive Labour and Tory governments have handed over control of immigration to the EU to such an extent that it is impossible to regain proper control of immigration without leaving the EU.

3.15.12 The English Democrats firmly support withdrawal from the EU, subject to referendum approval, and will campaign forcefully to that end. Once the UK has left the EU full border controls can be restored.

Does the ED not promote a multi-cultural society?

The truth is out there. The lazy ENGLISH should get off of their backsides and defend our Heritage-History-Culture and Country. Before it's too late, and the anti ENGLISH racist British government get their way. As for Roy West, this country has a christian culture, the promotion of this mythical multi rubbish by the left is the reason this country has so many problems. Anyone not wanting to live in our christian country should leave,

I broadly support the EngDems immigration policy.I am particularly pleased to see a willingness to scrap the asylum system, and by implication the "indefinite leave to remain because you come from a country in anarchy" system. The latter we can deal with in a humane manner possibly by helping them resettle in safe areas of their own country's eg financing the creation of a safe haven in Somalia,or supplying weaponry to ethnic groups in Congo being terrorised by other ethnic groups. That may sound fanciful, but pro-immigrationists will always use the argument "how can you send someone back to their deaths" so we need to have our reply ready.
Another thorny issue is the question of race in the immigration debate. The Eng Dems may well be right to not have any policies regarding race, since it inevitably attracts criticism of the "you Nazi ****** " variety from people who feel there is something wrong with a country being predominately white. My own feeling is that it is racist to bring in people who are non-European just to create a multi-cultural society. But I suppose if you have virtually no immigration, race becomes irrelevant,so why bring it up.
I am not a member of any political party at the moment, still looking for a home.

Another excellent article.
England is full up. As I write this article they will still be coming across our borders. No fear of being carted off to an inhospitable buiding somewhere where they will remain before being returned from whence they came, but full of optimism for the new life that awaits them. And why not indeed? They know their rights and even if they don't, no need to worry, there is always a kindly busybody to assist.
Todays headlines nine out of ten jobs go to immigrants. Whats new? Schools - in some - areas are full of them.
Hospitals also. Patients and staff alike. It is common practice in our "enriched" city hospitals to employ interpreters. I have witnessed on occasion where a medical consultation was delayed because the interpreter was late. Receive a publication from your local council and it will include several different languages.[At what cost?]
More houses needed. Planning applications to build on land that once would have been unheard of, is now the norm.
I could go on, but until the "lazy English get of their backsides" as Paul Voce[August 30]says, nothing is going to change.

The English Democrats clearly do not promote multi-culturalism. They promote English culture. If people come here and don't want to accept our culture they would not be welcome. The English Democrat's immigration policy is clear - a points based system to ensure that only the best people are eligible for entry into England.

One way to stop immigration and a sensible policy for the future of the nation
0
The English cannot formulate a response to immigration until they accept that England is a northwest European country and not a global power. The English cannot accept this at a basic level and so are cursed with uncontrollable immigration. It really is just a personal decision. If you seek to be a great power then it follows that you have to accept that immigrants have a right to settle in your nation. High time it is to ditch the commonwealth and insist that the British monarchy resigns the innumerable pointless roles as head of state in foreign countries. This is not rocket science it is very basic stuff.
But I do not see any will to do this in the English.

I am all for the identity card system, however I think that our England is too weak to instigate it. I feel that they would decide that as they find so many illegal immigrants here that our lazy politicians will decide that it is too much for them to deal with and issue these undeserving people with ID cards

I agree with almost all the policies of ED. I would wish to see the relatively new Parliamentary concession (The 100,000 signatory petition). When 100,000 signatures are collected on any subject then that petition is presented to the government. The government MUST then debate the subject in Parliament.

I believe that this is the only way to reinforce the electorate mood.

ED keep up your fine work

Ethnic cleansing
0
Unless drastic action is taken soon the English will be reduced to minority status in their own ancestral homelands. This process of demographic transformation is taking place in every borough in every major town and city across the land. It is nothing more than ethnic cleansing. Some have argued that we have already reached a tippling point and that it is too late. The politicians who are responsible for this must be held accountable one day to the English people, or whats left of them.
