English Taxes pay for Scotland's Prosperity
Written by Administrator

This week Alex Salmond launched a £1million independence campaign in his speech to Scottish Nationalist Party delegates as it was revealed just how financially better off the Scottish are than the English.

But it's not just the Scottish who are better off than the English. When the TaxPayers' Alliance last examined the figures in 'Unequal Shares: The definitive guide to the Barnett Formula', by former Treasury economist Mike Denham, they found that identifiable public spending per head in England is £7,535 pa (2007-08).

But in Scotland it is 22 per cent (£1,644) higher, in Wales 14 per cent (£1,042) higher, and in Northern Ireland an extraordinary 30 per cent (£2,254) higher. That makes England the poor relation in the United Kingdom and means that English taxpayers' money is being used to finance a better quality of living for those in the other home nations.

The Barnett Formula, which was devised in 1978 to undermine support for the Scottish National Party, is grossly unfair to England. One manifestation of this unfairness is the scandalous situation we have with regard to prescription charges, whereby only patients in England that have to pay these. People in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are exempt.

The Barnett Formula was justified on the grounds that there needed to be 20% higher expenditure in Scotland in order to bring its public services up to the standard in England. The allocation of funds was to be based on relative need. There has been no assessment of need since 1976.

As Scottish independence looms on the horizon, both the SNP and the Coalition Government are going to have some interesting truths to tell voters. The SNP will face questions about how it proposes to pay the bills without massive injections of cash from English taxpayers and how much it will contribute towards the UK's foreign and defence policy. The Coalition Government – made up of two unionist parties – will have to face up to the unfairness of the Barnett Formula.

If they defend it – to reassure Scottish voters that they are financially better off as part of the Union – they will be letting the cat out of the bag to just how much England subsidises Scotland. This will no doubt produce many unhappy voters in England at the next general election, who are sick of reading about free tuition fees and prescriptions in Scotland when the English are seeing such harsh cuts in services.

With the impending breakup of the Union and the public becoming more aware of the financial unfairness and inequality in Britain – that always favours everyone but the English – the English more than ever need a political voice. That voice is the English Democrats.

Where will the SNP get the million pounds to set up his campaign? Will it be the English taxpayer again. We the
Our stupid government will no doubt give them the million pounds of English taxpayers money and then more annually to help them when they have independence.
We want and desperately need an English Government. Then perhaps our Students will get free tuition, free hospital parking, free prescriptions, etc.etc.

We, the English, have only ourselves to blame for our present predicament. Say what you will about the Scots, Welsh and Irish - but you cannot fault their determination to get the best selfish deals for themselves and to have not a jot of sympathy for The English. One only has to take even a superficial glance at the composition of our local Councils to see that The English simply do not put themselves up for election anything like on the scale of immigrants from every other part of the world. And, can you blame them? Next time, before you start complaining as to the position we find ourselves in, take a look at the names and original nationalities of those in charge of housing decisions and other critical Council posts and you will see that we are not even bothering to vote into 'local' powerful positions people with traditional English backgrounds and history to make those vital decisions which decide 'who gets what' in terms of housing and other vital benefits. I have nothing against an immigrant seeking the power to make decisions for us, that is their prerogative - but it is also our free vote which decides whether they succeed or not to gain that power. Next time you vote, before bleating and complaining about the state we are in,just be sure that the person you give your vote to is going to give you, an English voter, an even break when he makes his next housing decision, as to who gets what. The fact is that the average Englishman/woman has surrendered what little power they had to those who give not a monkey's fingernail what the indiginous English person thinks. Can you blame them for making sure the 'agenda' they prepare favours people of their own particular background? It is about time that younger English people are schooled, prepared and primed to look after their 'own' just as other ethnic groups do - after all - we are an Ethnic Minority these days - we might even ask for funding to prepare our future breed of indigenous Council Officials - Who knows - it's a crazy world anyway!!

In my opinion although its obviously a fact that Brown and Blair are Scots and as such did their best for Scotland at the expense of England and the English. Is it just me or is Cameron one of the most famous Scottish names. It wouldn't be the first time that that someone was more patriotic to the land of their ancesters than the land of their birth. So if we look again at David Cameron's treatment of England and the English which in spite of all his election promises and his extreme criticism and tirades against the Labour party what has he done better for us than they did? He's closing libraries schools and hospitals and allowing the the evil body of ? who are referred to as N.I.C.E.to deny life saving medication on the grounds of cost (whose money is it anyway?).I thought the death penalty had been abolished but it seems that was only when it came to courts and criminals. But it seems these evil creatures can still pronounce the death sentence on decent people who have the misfortune to develop some terrible disease.I honestly think the title of N.I.C.E.Is a sneering and sarcastic name for these evil heartless creatures.A it should be changed to something more fitting to better describe the type of creatures they are and the job?they do

The Rout of English Education

There's no doubt that Cameron used his name as a means to butter up the Scots, but what I really don't understand is why. If we would be so much better off without Scotland, why do so many politicians insist on sucking up to them?

To my way of thinking, we began to bail out Scotland centuries ago when they made a bankrupt attempt to colonise a part of South America. In return for English money to bail them out then, they became subject to English juresdiction. We have been bailing then out ever since. There is no doubt in my mind that Scotish culture enriches our own as do so many other cultures and that there have been many notable Scots contributors to UK history and culture. In recent times I have often wondered if the price is just to high. I think it is.

The final straw for me has come as the not very surprising news arrives that English universithy entrants are down on last year. We pay, pay, pay, yet our hitherto excellent education system has become once again a priviledge of the rich of whatever nationality cares to apply. Less affluent English families can basically forget about it, particularly since many of the degrees awarded nowadays are scarcely worth the paper they are written on. We have Blair to thank for that, too.

The English have little hope of maintaining a high calibre of graduates from different economic backgrounds. Social mobility has been all but halted in England now, and while it seems we continue to heavily subsidise Scotish education, care for the elderly and health charges, the poor of our own nation are suffering a deprivation that our own politicians, coming as they do almost exclusively from wealthy backgrounds, cannot even begin to comprehend.

England has been dumped on from a great height by our greedy, ignorant plutocrats and since education is now being put out of our reach again, there is nothing we can do about it. It is going to be too late unless we do something and SOON! How can we get the message out? Is there anyone who can help us? I feel utter despair for my nation and my culture.

I'm still waiting for the bent MPs who have been caught fiddling their expenses, to be appropriately dealt with. Can you imagine if any of us did what they've done and then gave a limp apology, we wouldn't get away with it. They put a couple of scape goats away to do a token sentence. They probably got backhanders to take it and keep quiet. Of course our government lets the Scottish stitch us up. If you're native ENGLISH you are in the smallest minority in this country and no one will suport you. We voted for all these immoral, thieving public school boys and they are supposed to answer to us. Everyone I speak to who works and pays tax, has the same conversations yet they don't listen to us. There is no one on our side any more. They use us to bouy up the benfit system and pay for their mistakes so it's no surprise we are paying for the Scots, Welsh and Irish to get free, all the things we pay through the nose for. Use your votes people and get these scum out of government and ourselves out of the EU. Why can't we be proud to vote for a National English Party???? UKIP should link with them. I've had a gut full.
