English Democrats Second in Rochford
Written by Administrator

The English Democrats contested a by-election yesterday in Rochford in Essex. We are pleased to announce our candidate, John Hayter, finished second place with nearly 30% of the vote beating the Lib Dems.

The full result was as follows:

ROCHFORD DISTRCT COUNCIL - Rayleigh Central Ward

Cheryl Roe (Con) - 406 (54.8%)
John Hayter (English Democrats) - 218 (29.4%)
Elena Black (Liberal Democrat) - 117 (15.8%)

The English Democrats contested the ward for the first time in 2010 local elections that coincided with the General Election. Accordingly the turn out in 2010 was much higher. Here is the result from that contest:

Conservative - 1242 (54.7%)
Liberal Democrat - 702 (30.9%)
English Democrats - 328 (14.4%)

The English Democrats more than doubled its share of the vote. This is a remarkable achievement in a year and a half. There is no doubt that the English Democrats are now the second party in Rochford behind the Conservatives.

We would like to congratulate John and his campaign team on such an excellent result.

Well done John, What more can one say? Please carry on with the good fight one day I am sure we can all get what we are aiming for, that is "England ruled by English". I myself would like to stand in a by-election but being retired I am starting to feel I may be too old. As Fred said above, what a magnificent Christmas Present.

Is The Lion finally waking up?

Born and bred a Yorkshire-man with a Anglo Scot heritage, I was brought up to be very proud of both. The thing that had driven me throughout my life was a sound sense of right and wrong, fairness and a belief that all men were created equal. Everything flowed from that.

After a 35 year career in the Army, I found I was returning to a country I did not recognise anymore. So I stayed away. I have served in all of the home countries and have enjoyed a welcome and sense of community in each. Each is unique, rightly proud of their heritage and traditions. I do not hold with the demonisation of any of them for political reasons.

My dismay is founded squarely on the evolution of something that I do find diabolical. Our so called political and intellectual elite appear to be determined to erase or ignore everything that could be termed or linked to, The English. There seems to be a perverse kind of anti English racism going on as exampled in the following:

Jo Brand has been explaining the meaning of racism on Radio Five Live:
Jo Brand: My personal opinion is that you can't be racist towards white people. You can be prejudiced about them but being prejudiced isn't an illegal act whereas being racist can be.
Phil Williams: Don't you think racism is just being derogatory about a race, regardless of the colour?
Jo Brand: No I don't. I think the definition of racism also encompasses political power. So you can't be racist towards a race that’s politically more powerful than a minority. That to me is the correct definition of racism. I think you can be prejudiced towards a group of people who are more powerful than you, but I don’t think you can be racist towards them.

This is appears to be typical of the thinking of all current Parliamentarians, no matter what their party affiliation. I need not rehash here, public enemy No1, the Lothian question, closely followed by the Barnett formula. Parliamentarians simply refuse to address the issues. Both are unjust and must go! It is this mind set which has led to Political parties needs being more important that that of the nation(s). It is why there are no respected elder statesmen in either "place". They are completely out of touch with their electorate and worse, they don't appear to care. The Party Whip is all.

It against this that John Hayter and his colleagues have been battling. By the looks of things, John has struck a chord in the electorate and I hope that other candidates are quick on the uptake. The political battleground to save the English is a fluid place. UKIP has now stated it will campaign for an English parliament, the 3 major parties are still opposed. The EU and current machinations of France and Germany to rewrite EU agreements are important considerations. "Our" Dave has already said he does not agree with these proposals. What a surprise, seeing that by law the British electorate will get at last their chance to vote. The SNP has as a major policy element, an absolute conviction to pursue closer ties with the EU. If the result at the ballot box is to leave the EU and rejoin the EFTA, this will be largely due to the 45million+ English voters. What then? Will the political row accelerate the move to Scottish Independence?

What is clear from all of this is that we need more candidates of John's stamp, who have both the intellect and the nous to be at the same time focused on what they are about whilst remaining aware of the fluidity of wider international events and possible consequences.

The increasing number of headlines in UK newspapers such as; Honour Attacks on the increase; More new jobs given to immigrants than "locals" and the like are constant pricks, reminding all who care to hear, of the constant erosion of an English identity. The standing of the English Democratic party in the recent election may be the first indication that, at last, the English Lion is rousing.

We must trust to the integrity and vision of the English Democrats to ensure that this awakening is managed in such a fashion that openness, trust and justice for all is at the very heart of all that they do. That the discord, hatred and racism that underpins some other parties will have no place as they rebuild a Land full of Hope and filled with the quiet Glory that is its rightful heritage.

And then, perhaps, this sojourner can come home.

(n.b. To be upright, work hard, take care of your family, pay your taxes, obey the law and be part of your community is the mark of a man and is more important to me than ethnicity or religion).

Open the people of England's eyes

Well done John, a brilliant number of English Democrats voters. If only we could break people's habits of voting for the tired, old parties. I can't believe people are still voting Conservative, apart from the age old alliance with money, the Conservatives have jettisoned all their core beliefs; law and order, immigration, independence. This government is indistinguishable from the last, now they are even spending the same.

Foliticsing Voters brings New Hope

Looking at the results it is an amazing success. The main parties, as they once liked to be called, saw the Conservative lost voters being 67% of their General Election support and the Liberals lost 41% while the English Democarts support saw a seasonal adjustment of only 36% but with the lower turnout pushing the English Democrats up 15% to achieve an excellent near 30% of the total votes cast. What I am hearing in Salford is that voters in the area, especially younger voters, want to see an F put into Politic (Fun) and have caused a new term for the Salford changes in the old style control to rename it Folitics (Fun in Politics) to coincide with the BBC moving up to an impressive modern campus called MediaCityUK, partnering with Salford University. In addition with so many young people with no jobs they want a new wave of opportunities for younger people to be based on modern social enterprises, making Salford an employment magnet for the third sector. In this the local word is for a fresh inspiring approach on Local Folitics Finance Initiatives, where the local authority under a new style mayoral system would embrace young people in innovative new work activities. Clearly this is going to take a new approach from the council leadership, where young people's voices and talent is valued.
