Thomas the Tank Engine has joined the politically correct bandwagon after Christmas was written out of his latest adventure. Thomas will now be sitting under a 'decorated tree' during the 'winter holidays'. In the episode Little Engines Big Days Out, where Christmas trees are instead referred to as decorated trees, brightly wrapped presents are delivered to a 'holiday party'. Throughout the whole episode there is no mention of Christmas whatsoever. This is all the more disturbing when it is considered the original Thomas the Tank Engine books were written by a clergyman, the Reverend Wilbert Awdry. In another episode called Keeping Up With James, there are references to 'winter holidays' but no mention of the word Christmas. Thomas is carrying a fir tree as narrator Michael Angelis says: 'Thomas is pulling a special tree. You always see a tree with decorations during the winter holidays.' In the story, red engine James is anxious to beat the other engines to finish a series of jobs because he wants to win the privilege of distributing children's presents. The narrator says the Fat Controller, the rotund manager of the railways system on the fictional island of Sodor, tells the trains that when the lines are clear of snow he will need an engine 'to take the presents to the holiday party' – an apparent reference to a Christmas celebration. He adds: 'All the engines wanted to take the presents train. It was the jolliest train of the year.' At one point, James pulls into a station where children are singing carols and decorating a Christmas tree with shiny baubles. The narrator says: 'James listened to the choir and watched all the colourful decorations being put up.' This is just another example of Christmas being airbrushed out of popular media in a stomach churning effort to ensure that those who don't celebrate Christmas are not offended. Even more sinister in this case is the fact that Thomas the Tank Engine is aimed at children. Like a scene out of George Orwell's 1984 it seems Christmas is going down the memory hole. Another tradition that is part of our nation's rich culture and heritage sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. The English Democrats believe that the public culture of England should be that of the indigenous English. This position is consistent with the rights of indigenous nations everywhere. Christmas has been part of our culture for hundreds of years and should continue to be so.

What we should do to fight this politically correct nonsense is to identify those responsible. Somewhere these people work and live and they should be "outed," in public. Identify them with the PC rubbish that they engender and if they work for tax-payer funded organisations then attack their organisation ridiculing their stupid agenda. Local Councils and the BBC are infected with these PC individuals,so bombard them with letters, e mails, social web sites, newspapers etc. etc. Go for them and get them to stop this pernicious rubbish. We don't want it and if the people of other religions don't want it then why is it happening? One good reason is that the people who perpetuate this rubbish hate not only their own history but their own culture and people....not a very good reason to drip poison onto future relationships between cultures or religions.
Mr
This is all part of the attack on our culture by the leftie brigade, they hate the English, our Christian heritage and our history. During the time Labour was in power they have taken over our institutions and are now carrying out their agenda to destroy our society.
The BBC are a prime example of leftie thinking now banning the use of BC/AD regarding our historical events, if this is not a direct attack on our Christian heritage I do not know what is. The Labour party set up our immigration laws to allow a mass influx into our country, the main purpose was to dilute the mainly white English population and produce a multicultural society. The coilition driven by the Liberal Democrats desire to spread multicultralism across the heartlands of England and the Tory desire to kick start the economy will if they succeed destroy our English way of life by developing our farmlands and filling the houses with our immigrant population. Denying Christmas is only the short end of the straw, this a battle of left verses the majority of the people in England. No Christmas for Thomas
Surelt what ALL we English and other Christians need to do is make our own Celebrations Bigger, Better and VERY PUBLIC
There are none so offended as those who would wish to be offended
'... in a stomach churning effort to ensure that those who don't celebrate Christmas are not offended.' I couldn't agree more with the final sentiments. As far as I know Jews have never complained or been 'offended' by Christmas Celebrations. Jehovas Witnesses to my knowledge have never complained and I know of some Indian families who actually enjoy Christmas celebrations. So who are they trying to protect we ask ourselves! This PC nonsense is suppression by another name and is largely fuelled by cowardice. It reminds me of one local town council who refused to fly the flag of St George. When challenged they explained that the location of the mast involved workmen having to climb a ladder to change the flag which incurred Health and Safety risks. The fact that someone must have climbed that self same ladder to fly the Union Flag perhaps did not occur to them. Appeasement never works. BTW I don't mind any one celebrating Eid.
MISS
How bloody pathetic! What next? The Queen doing her Christmas speech outside a mosgue? The idiots who come up with this rubbish need to be sent to space on a one way shuttle!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a thought....
Does anyone, after finishing reading this, consider that maybe (just maybe) that as Thomas and Friends (formerly Thomas the Tank Engine) is syndicated to over 180 countries worldwide that this is a marketing decision or perhaps a cost saving one? In terms of not having to re-record different soundtracks for the episodes in question the production is cheaper and more marketable.
This programme is watched by English Speaking Hindu children in India, Muslim children in Oman, Jewish children in Israel, Buddhists in China who genuinely do not have cultural reference to 'Christmas' is. There is no reference in this article that this was a PC driven decision (maybe it was) but all I'd suggest is before we whip out our virtual soap boxes, remember propaganda works both ways.....just a thought. Another insultto the Brits!
As previously suggested we should all write to our MP and copy to David Cameron. We should also question until we get an answer as to who decided this edict should be adhered to. Brits have to get up and shout, very loud, in order to hold not our culture and heritage.
*sigh*
Absolutely ridiculous. I don't know anyone from a non-Christian faith/background who is offended by the mention or public celebration of Christmas.
What would Thomas creator, the Reverend W. Awdry, make of this? ...
I am sick to my teeth with how this country is sinking, not only in the finance area, but every bit of english fun. Children are being clamped and our english heritage is nil and void.
Who is being offended
I have a friend who a few years ago wished someone in a shop a Happy Christmas. He was told that he shouldn't say that was it might offend Muslims. His response was 'I AM a Muslim and it doesn't offend me. HAPPY CHRISTMAS.' My friend is sick and tired of, mostly, the government telling people what offends him. He says if something offends him, he'll say so, he doesn't not need the mind police telling him what he can and can't think.
Ban on Diwali and Eid celebrations
That's fine as long as all reference to Diwali and Eid are banned and any celebrations are referred to as ethnic cultural celebration.
This is my country and I will celebrate my holidays with vigour and I will not have my grandchildren watching or reading matter that has been censored by the PC brigade. I want my grandchildren to grow up with a healthy, open outlook, not an introverted, bigoted view. Makes my blood boil. Merry Christmas /happy st georges day?
I'm fed up with all of it every were I go the same shit, well let me tell you IM EGLISH and PROUD of it and I let as many people know about as I can, thank you.
...
If Christmas is to be ignored, or passed over then so too should all the other holidays celebrated by the foreigners who have invaded our country - maybe their English hosts might be offended by the mention of Ramadam etc etc.
PATHETIC!
This is just another example of the proud heritage of this country being slowly killed off. Even our children are being dragged into this. Time we stood up & made a stand.
Parasites
It seems I am living in a mongrel nation, beset by parasites that are sucking out its life blood.
English Dispair
I hate to say it but I think many of the English are giving up. We are swamped with immigrants , swamped with PC , not allowed to celebrate our religion not allowed to take care of our own health due to Codex Allimentarius rubbish and general EU interference (The common market was good for all but everything since has been and continues to be a disaster) and The Human Rights fiasco must be addressed sooner rather than later.
Many of our established immigrants (before Labours Voter Immigration Plan) who made this their homes and have been a massive credit to our economy must be feeling the same despair as the rest of the English... Mr.
Why don't they just jump on Thomas, or any other train, which will take them to the nearest airport?
Mrs
Its Christmas whether you like it or not! get over it! why should the rest of us not be allowed to use the term as we might, just might upset a few people who chose to live here. If you don't like it sod off then.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Christmas cards
Wait till you see, the "alternative" cards, being planned by our Marxist local councils.
Rt Revd
I have taught many people over many years various subjects, and I still do. Of course many of my students have been non christian, all that have bothered to pass comment on the Christmas Season have said they enjoyed the openly expressed goodwill, the period that work, school, college or University had to be unattended. The PC movement, will produce the opposite result to that which they say it will produce, which is dissent toward those who they intend to advantage. It is doubtful they will take the responsability for their actions.
This is getting stupid now.......
I get 'Happy Eid' e-cards from Gulf Air each year, doesn't offend me, so why on earth should we think anyone will be offended by Christmas.
Are we ashamed of our country's religion? It seems like it to me.... my boyfriend is muslim, im not religious at all
religion should not be allowed to rule any ones life. people say negative things to my boyfriend cos he is going out with a white girl who refuses to wear a head scarf. my boy friend has never asked me to wear one so im not really refusing. he just doesn't force his religion on anyone and nobody should. strongly agrree with patricia joy. who is offended by happy christmas?
Enough is enough.
I totally agree with William Walker October 07, 2011. The only way to put an end to these continuous attacks by the morons who infest every root and branch of the state system is to identify them. As taxpayers we should not be funding these jobsworths in their overpaid non-jobs.
Unfortunately the brainwashing begins long before employment. Nursery ryhmes are altered to adhere to the doctrine. Baa Baa Black Sheep, for example, is no longer acceptable to these zealots. None of our customs, celebrations, teaching, religion or our everyday life should be compromised by elected or unelected busy bodies to comply with an agenda that was never[to my knowledge]put to the electorate of this country. Lord
by calling yourself brits, you are part of the problem, that is exactly what these EU Marxists want you to do, forget your ENGLISH and call yourself british.
When ever, will you people realise, you are playing into the BBC, the EU Dictatorship; the Loony Left, hands, They are Anglophobes, who think up, all these ridiculous statements to create confusion and chaos and put the English on the back-foot,we will celebrate Christmas, and we will support our CHRISTIAN Religion The Church of ENGLAND, perhaps we should be paying a visit to our local Christian Church now and again. Hypersensativitey
I work alll around the world regularly with other ethnic groups including Mouslems, Jews and Hindus. The most amazing thing is i have never met one offended by the term "Merry Christmas". I have however met dozens over the years who have approached me on the "Very special winter holiday day" of December 25th who have made a point of approaching my family and myself wishing us a Merry Christmas. What idiot exactly decided these terms so dear to our heritage and way of life are actually offensive? The kind of idiot with the same issues as the idiots offended by Christmas i guess!!!
Christmas is for all
What give s these people the right to decide how we should celebrate Christmas. These busy bodies in over paid position need to get a life. Stop wasting tax payers money and start listening to what the majority want. The words Christmas tree and Christmas presents and the festive period of Christmas means a magical happy time. Goodwill to all and Peace on Earth. It dosnt bother me that other faiths celebrate special days. In the end it all means the same. People are happy.
So give us back our festive season, the words merry and white Christmas snow is white wherever it falls so whats wrong with saying that or that a mistake and its BLACK,BROWN,OLIVE,YELLOW, I don't think so.. Come on THOMAS celebrate with me HAPPY WHITE SNOWING CHRISTMAS. thomas the tank
although I do see the point that is being made, I tend to agree with peter jenkins oct 7th, as for all the talk of lefties and labour, i thought the english democrates was about being english and celebrating the fact of this. I couldn't care if you are left, right, center or if you are not to sure what you are, that you love your country and that the term british doesnt do it for you. As a country we need to be a more vocal majority instead of a silent one. This includes whatever religion or colour or creed you are because being english should out weight all other considerations.
here we go again
Same old same old thanks so much to the twits who deem themselves to be "the powers that be" Yet again you are baisically asking the general public to get angry and promote RACISM. Yet again you are adding fuel to the bigot's fire and all for what? What is this latest racist act going to improve or prevent?
The Non-Muslims at my son's school enjoyed Ramadam as I am sure the Muslim children and their families are looking forward to the Christmas celebrations. My son enjoyed watching the dances and parties for Ramadam on Cbeebies so why oh why is he going to be forced to grow up in a world where his own religion is deemed to be wrong and racist? How the heck did these prats get A job never mind THIS job??? Thanks for helping to make that togetherness, racial tolerance and the sharing of religion that little bit harder for my community. I'm sure that a repeat of the Bradford riots will be a very rewarding pat on the back for the whole of your organisation. But then again, as with those riots and the more recent ones, any racial negativity wont be reported accurately anyway so at least the whole country wont get to see what a success you've made. WE ARE AT WAR
We should be angry about this, we're at war, but a new kind of warfare. We are under attack from within - infiltration and subversion as opposed to invasion by armies; direct attacks upon our values and traditions, our families, our health, the re-writing of our history, etc. We are at war. Brave New Britain. 1984. Follow the money trail. It all leads back to the banksters and global corporations. The money-lenders have been the enemies of humanity since Biblical times and they still are today. IXOYE
Mr. Mark Wheeler MDV. MSc. Eng. Tech.
As indigenous English man married to a Asian Muslim for close to two decades with two sons about to enlist in national service, I'm appalled at this airbrushing out of Christmas Spirit from the English culture in particular children programs, it is emphatically wrong! I'm presently living in Singapore were they celebrate Christmas, Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Vesak day and Deepavali celebrations; neither of which are politically corrected. Everybody enjoys peaceful public holidays in the the spirit for which it is meant to be that includes a National Day which appears to be inappropriate in England(Check out Singapore calendar for proof http://www.mom.gov.sg/employme...s2012.aspx).
DO Something
It is not acceptable, action is needed. It's no good just complaining, the people behind this treat words with contempt. Some form of direct action, I'm not suggesting throwing bricks through windows, but something physical is required, marches maybe? blockades? Any ideas? It's no good just being angry.
ooo hol i days
Working at a multi racial school the foreign kids get their holidays off, AND the english holidays, then the parents complain at their exam results The tutors only get english hol i days
Bring on Christmas MR
Look all we need to do is shout from the highest roof tops MERRY CHRISTMAS ! never let the spirit be snuffed out by a race of people who have no intentions of being loving or compassionate to the CIVILISED world ! MERRY CHRISTMAS !!
xmas, innit!...
They are trying to make Christmas time non-denominational and generic so ALL people of ALL religions spend their money giving gifts at this 'Holiday Time'... CAPITALISM is as much the enemy as other religions etc...
...
Sad to hear this latest example of P.C. (Political Corruption. Yes we should know who originated this change in the Thomas adventure. So they didn't stop the festival and present giving, more money to be spent, more growth etc. All against the spirit of Christmas. As one commentator said the show will go out all over the world mentioning China, well China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai etc will celebrate Christmas as Christmas maybe slightly different from the European but still Christmas, so no need to write about Winter Holidays etc.
Its Christmas
I cannot believe that this stupidity can be allowed. I am an atheist, but I don't have any problem with people enjoying Christmas, it makes people happy. I shall have a Christmas tree, give Christmas presents, but what I won't do is buy my grandson the politically correct Thomas The Tank Engine DVD. I am English and very proud of it and it worries me that we are losing our identity
Mr.
Very, very sadly the greed, apathy, or cowardice, of the people in UK and Europe will prevent anything conclusive being done about this absolute crap 'Politically Correct' situation. Don't get me wrong, I'm a believer in abolishing it totally and have written many letters to local and national politicians about it; so far to no conclusive avail. It leaves me distraught to think that direct conflict is probably the only thing that will prevent the complete take over of the political systems in Europe. Thank God I am too old and frail to see that day dawn.
